Summary

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) Programme is UN organization that contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. It envisions a world in which volunteerism is recognized for its central role in achieving sustainable development.

UNV programme Zimbabwe commenced operations in 1999 and currently has 24 volunteers serving under different agencies or project in the country. The volunteers are serving with UNDP, UNICEF, UN Women, WFP and UNFPA. The main issues they are focusing o are climate change, poverty, AIDS/HIV, TB, and gender discrimination.
